Alex Roland
Alex Roland is a television journalist and news reporter. , he has received twelve Emmy Awards for Excellence in Journalism. In 2009, he was honored with the Edward R. Murrow Award. Working with New York's Univisión news affiliate, WXTV-DT, Roland notably produces the segment "Our People", which highlights the work of Latin Americans living in the United States. He has also produced and presented reports on immigration and political issues, along with entertainment industry news. He is a native of Bogotá, Colombia, residing in New Jersey under political asylum, since 2000. == Personal background == Roland was born in Bogotá, Colombia, the son of Raul Roland and Betty Castillo. He is the third of four children. His father was a journalist working on Colombian radio and artist promoter. In 1996, Roland graduated from Fundación Escuela Superior Profesional (INPAHU) in Bogotá, completing his education in journalism. Following his graduation from INPAHU, he enrolled in Central University, where he continued his education in journalism and media relations. In 2000, Roland moved to the United States, residing in New Jersey, having been granted political asylum.〔
